The trial for the murder of Kim Gómez, the girl who was killed during a violent robbery in La Plata, begins today. In the run-up to one of the most anticipated debates, where a young man will be tried under the current Juvenile Penal Law, Marcos Gómez, the minor's father, spoke with Noticias Argentina Agency and stated that before the court and whoever is present, they will be "Kim's voice". In a climate of pain and anger, this Wednesday the trial against the 18-year-old young man, who is detained for the crime of robbery homicide, takes place. As he committed the act when he was 17 years old, he will be tried in a juvenile court, which reduces his sentence. The trial is against the accused, who is 17 years old. "On Sunday it was my birthday and it was the first time I spent it not being happy. Reliving everything is hard, it's cruel," he said. Amidst this scenario, he mentioned that it is a difficult month, not only because the trial is starting and it is almost a year since the murder, but also because he celebrated his first birthday without his daughter. "It's complicated." In recent days, Marcos was in Congress for the new Juvenile Penal Law that was debated in the Chamber of Deputies, and about this he said: "I went to fight, like other fathers." "Being there, listening to them speak, going on television to try to explain the things that need to be done and what one feels, is very moving," he added. The trial will take place at Juvenile Responsibility Court No. 1 in La Plata and will last for eight hearings, so a verdict could be handed down before the end of February. To continue the demand and keep the girl's heart strong, Marcos pointed out: "We will be present being Kim's voice. I always was and I thanked life for it, but this year something happened to me that I never thought," he stated. In the case, a 14-year-old boy is also accused, who, being not punishable, is only lodged in a maximum security institute for two years and under interdisciplinary treatment.
